SUP Surfing The Wittering On The Navigator

SUP Surfing The Wittering On The Navigator

The Surf was pumping and the sun was out what more could you want on a February weekend. This weekend was one of the best swells we have seen on the south coast all winter and was an absolute score for waves with 17 second swell period ad 2-3 foot it was perfect conditions to take out the Navigator 11’6 and catch some waves .

Loving on the south coast in west Sussex and being a paddle boarder means having a lot of patience for swells and also getting fully gimped out to go Stand up paddling in the winter. we are pretty lucky as we have the wittering right n our door step with a variety of breaks to chose from the car park at Bracklesham to the dotted peaks at east wittering all the way down to the sandy beaches of west wittering with its outer sand bars for catching long mellow rides perfect for bigger boards. Stand up paddle boarding has taken of around the Chichester area with more  and more local people using local water ways and canals to get out and sup, No where is this more evident when we get a decent swell and the whole world descend to a 2 mile stretch of coast and the wittering becomes a sup mecca for the day.

On this February Sunday afternoon it was no different solid swell perfect for paddle boarding all along the wittering mean it was the perfect time to get a few clip of Ben on the 11’6 Navigator. Ben chose this shape because of the wave size as well and the swell period of the day, the 11’6 navigator mean Ben could paddle the board out through the waves easily catch waves earlier and quicker than most other paddlers and with its width and outline shape  makes it super stable and relay easy to turn on the wave meaning more waves and more fun on the Navigator SUP

Navigator

The Navigator is a great SUP for paddler looking for a first time sup or for some one looking to catch some waves on a sup. living on the south coast we designed the navigator with the south coast wittering waves in mind. a board you can use of flatter days to paddle long distances and cruise around but when the waves are pumping you can use it to surf for hours of fun

The Navigator has most of its volume in the centre and with its allaround outline helping to keep you stable this board is so easy to paddle. catching waves at the wittering was a doddle as you can see in the video a few paddles and it was planning and cruising along and because of its length and volume  the 11’6 navigator s a great option for the larger paddler who still looking to catch a lot of waves  the Navigator can still catch even smaller waves

Navigator Points

  • All round design – (Flat water – Waves)
  • Very stable & easy to paddle
  • 2+1 Fin set up for waves or flat water
  • Medium rocker for surfing waves
  • Can take up to 105 kg rider
  • Extra strong Bamboo reinforced Deck
  • Thinner tail and rails to help with turns
  • Ideal Beginner SUP -intermediate paddle board for flat water  or Surfing

SUP MAG UK (SBS Don Review)

SUP MAG UK (SBS Don Review)

The Don Touring Stand Up Paddleboard has been in our sup quiver since 2014 its be reshaped and improved with little tweaks into our ultimate touring board that you see before you. The Don is a great entry level board for the most paddler looking to get some distance under their belt and is perfect for paddlers looking for a stable ride that can go the miles with ease.

We gave our legendary touring Sup to Tez the editor and one of the founders of SUP MAG. Tez had the Don for over 2 weeks and was able to paddle it in a variety of conditions, to really test it to its full potential and give us his feedback on what he thought. Tez has been in the water sports industry testing kit for over 20 years. He’s tested 100s of wind surfboards to hundreds of sups and will give anything a go once. If you have seen sup in a magazine or online there’s a pretty good change Tez has tested it or reviewed it. He a mans who’s opinion it greatly sort after accepted and revered as he knows what he talking about.

What Tez Had To Say About The Don

“The Snell Brothers Don 12.6ft is a good all terrain SUP vehicle that delivers on many fronts.

It’s not the quickest, so perhaps entry-level racers should look elsewhere.

For the majority of paddlers, and the conditions they find themselves in, however, the Don is a worthy consideration. And beginners shouldn’t be put off by the pointy nose.

The Don is a perfectly applicable learning platform with oodles of performance to grow into”

“The Don comes with typical Snell Bros livery – bamboo finishing with black rails make the board look super sexy”

“At 29” wide it’s not the widest of sticks on paper yet even our beginner paddler found it to be incredibly stable”

“Where The Don really excelled – in fact much more so than anticipated – was when heading downwind”

The Don glides efficiently and it’s a great intro board for this type of SUPing”

“Paddlers will need to be proactive around the deck to stop the nose pearling but it’s a fun and rewarding board that’s great for those looking at getting into open ocean sweeping”

  • Bow displacement nose

It’s designed for paddlers who can already surf in waves and looking for a board to take them to that next level of performance.

It’s Versatile

It comes as standard with our hybrid carbon technology consisting of a carbon fibre and fibreglass EPOXY sandwich construction for the perfect ratio of lightweight ease of use, to great strength and durability. We have combined its precision shaped CNC cut EPS core with extra reinforcement under the deck nose & tail to ensure the board has incredible impact resistance & strength giving it rigidity and durability for when the surf gets rough. This board comes as standard with a fully grooved EVA Deck pad with an integrated Ledged handle.

Design

The design of the War Bird is set up for experienced riders who want to surf in the pocket and on the open face. It’s outline design and bottom contours allow for a smooth entry into the wave, whilst its performance rocker gives an instantaneous response to rail transitions with no lag, giving you a responsive feeling and connection to the wave. It has a thinned-out nose & tail to minimise swing weight and improve control. Its tail has been thinned out and foiled to give you the maximum control when turning even in the most critical part of the wave

The War Bird has a 5-fin set up usually ridden as a quad or thruster with the ability to switch out fins for more hollow or gradual waves. This board is going to perform great in waist high to well overhead surf and really excel in more powerful waves. UP Your Surf Sup Game Right Now !

Up Your Surf SUP Game With The Widow Maker

The widow maker is our performance surf SUP designed for high-end performance wave riding. It has a short overall length compared with most other SUPS which allows it to fit perfectly in the pocket of the wave with ease.

1 Design

It’s thinned out nose and tail give it a lighter high-performance feel, whilst the wider width and lower rocker line help generate a lot of speed, enabling the rider to make smooth, controlled, rail-to-rail transitions with minimal effort. It’s so reactive you will forget you’re on a sup. The foiled out tail adds manoeuvrability in the turns, combined with an increase in stability when riding waves from the wider tail template, giving you the float needed to catch waves without sacrificing performance.

2 Construction

The board has been given extra volume and width for great stability and forgiveness when turning this is helped by the single concave throughout its entire length that helps maximise the stability, complemented by the amplified outline allows it to catch waves with ease. This board is so much fun you’re not going to be able to hold back your smile.

EPS core bonded to a wood veneer outer shell using fibreglass and the finest epoxy resins. Resulting in stand up paddle boards with amazing strength to weight ratio and excellent flex and rebound characteristics.

3 Whats it good for?

Fast & loose and so much fun this board is going to be great for novice’s, child stand up paddlers or intermediate to advanced wave riders, we guarantee you’ll take to it quickly and easily. This board is going to perform great in small to medium-sized waves and really excel in more powerful waves. A great wave rider for anyone looking to get the most out of the waves they get.
